The Oja river (Rio Oja) is believed to have given the region it's name. Rioja was the first region in spain to be awarded the highest DOCa (Denominacion de Origen Calificada) category, due to it's proven record in consistently producing top-quality wines.
In a neigbouring bodega to Eduardo Garrido's, Solabal was born in Abalos, in 1988, from the union of twelve local grape growers who brought to the project all the know-how of many generations devoted to the vine and wine.
The grapes for this fine rose wine are harvested by hand, early in the mornings in Mid October, during pressing much importance is given to ensuring the desired salmon pink hue is reached.
